First, the hole in the baffle might not be quite big enough to clear the speaker basket, so the speaker might stand out from the baffle if mounted on the front.
Second, in my experience with Tannoy DC's, they seem to want to be flush mounted, rather than recessed or mounted in front, for the best sound.
Otherwise, I think it will work so long as there's enough clearance for the basket.
