I think the best part of "minimal" is using just one pair of tube amps,
and then trying different ones to see what works better. Also you have fewer XO parts overall. I view the biamping as a compromise, no doubt.
I have found however that contrary to older beliefs about biamping,
you don't have to have the same gain structure in each amp to track linearly with a volume control. And, I'll admit that when turning up a bit,
say for some rock music, I can adjust a little for recordings that either are bass heavy (mixed for ghetto blasters) or for live recordings that are often bass shy for the normal reasons associated with recording live performances. I try Not to, but I now have a bass/tone control.
