Good eye, yes, the picture is from before I made the little stands for the tweeters. Now they point straight out, and I agree that maybe slightly down would be an improvement.
Those pocket doors are 9' high, 42" wide each. The room goes back a bit farther where the picture doesn't show. The room sounds way better than I expected, considering I've only done about 1/3 of the dampening/treatment I plan. I did brace some stuff underneath the house directly under the speakers too.
With my old speakers (about 98db?) and a smaller room my gain chain was
6J5 (mu 18) to 6A5G (mu 3.5) and this was enough with just a TVC.
Now with a much bigger room and 100db speakers the same amp works fine
still enough gain to get too loud, barely, which is where I want to be.
