Hello DennisAppreciate the suggestion and yes the 35Hz TH with the Eminence 15" definimax is an excellent SMALL mouth design with a 106 dB sens. But the point of doing a 1/2 Wavelength 35 Hz horn design is to test the principles involved and end up with a functional VERY EFFICIENT more than 106 dB design. The fear of the HUGE cab is unwarranted. In my folded cab the sides of the cab are hinged and can be opened to control the size of the mouth of the horn. In a closed position the cab only measures 4 ft tall x 2 ft wide in the front 4ft wide in the rear and 5 ft deep. But in the open position which is variable depending on need the mouth size can be up to 4X8 feet. This Perimeter is 3 times a 35Hz WL and one and a half that of a 17Hz WL. Which means little resonance because of too little radiation resistance.
This is a very simple to build efficient design and the mouth size can be adjusted to limit low freq output. In a truncated form with mouth Perimeter equal the size of a 35Hz WL output below 35Hz should be limited. The fundamental 2nd and third harmonics should be close in level for a solid 35Hz.
Please note below the DBH 218 in this Danley design of a 35 Hz 1/4 WL horn there is an increase in output of more than 5 dB when the freq reaches the 1/2 WL at 70 Hz. This 5 dB represents as you know close to 4 more HORN cabs/amps.
http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/danley/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/DBH-218-spec-sheet1.pdfThe Eminence definimax 4015LF is a good candidate (EBP and Xmax could be better) perhaps YOU CAN MODEL this design using the 4015LF a in 4x4 ft mouth, 4x6 ft mouth, 4x8 ft mouth. The length is 194 inches and volumetric doubling rate is 42 inches. I am close to computer illiterate and poor with Horn response.
The question of too little power output from a single bass driver is pertinent but at close to 50 percent efficiency and less heat accumulation
it becomes irrelevent in most settings.Again thanks for the input.
