Yes but in a crossover one uses a non-polarized capacitor.
Internally it is like having two electrolytic back to back so that say the negative terminal of each is tied in series and the positive terminals brought out at each end. In this configuration an AC signal (like audio) is acceptable.
For mid-range or tweeter use, a polypropylene cap is a better bet as it acts more like an "ideal capacitor".
