Brad,Thanks for your input and the time you took to answer my post. The only "problem" I see with using a sealed design is the amount of power I'd require to be able to match my Sachiko/PS220-8 combo. Although I seldom listen at such volumes, they can cleanly play at 100dB+ and I can only imagine how much power a sealed sub would need to be able to play bass at volumes that would keep up with this when I'm playing music by Yes, Starcastle, Magnum, EL&P, Triumvirant etc.
