Home High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

RE: Ergs, Gauss, and the Jensen P15LL

Or maybe not...

I found an article from the 1950s on speakers that gave the formula:

W8π = B[squared] * V

Where

W = Gap energy in ergs
B = flux density
V = gap volume in cubic centimeters

Since I recone P15LLs, I have one that's just a basket, so I could measure the gap. I calculated gap volume as 4.89 cubic centimeters. That gave me a flux density of 8.36k Gauss. Of course, that seems somewhat low to me compared to data I've seen on other speakers, but Jensen never seemed that interested in publishing detailed specs on its speakers.

At this point, I give up.
