When I heard the Dayton it was at a friends place mounted in an open baffle. It could have been any number of factors that contributed to my dislike. I've always been a little skeptical because of the terrible published frequency response. I don't think I've ever seen something so bad!
It would take a lot of dope to tame that nasty spike at 3.5 kHz!
From 1K to 3.5k it's a 10 dB rise. Do you have an frequency response measurements to compare with the stock FR?
