The CF3 & the CF4 are not as efficient as the factory efficiency numbers would suggest and they are capable of lower bass response than the Heritage line up so they like to be presented with some power and with good large amps they can really come alive. I have had excellent success with vertical biamping. I used two identical redesigned and rebuilt Quad 405 amps one stereo amp per loudspeaker so that's a total of 400 watts available. You can buy a pair of used stereo amps of the 100 watt per channel variety for cheap these days. Give that a try and see what you think. Hafler DH200 are cheap like cabage soup and you can upgrade them to your hearts content later if you like the concept. John Hillig of Musical Concepts. Musical Design can turn an old Hafler into a world class amp for a fraction of the cost of one new amp. Best regards Moray James.
