RMAF 2011, Western Electric 757 and Joe Roberts
« on: October 17, 2011, 06:17:02 AM »Looking at RMAF 2011 coverage, I came across the Silbatone room where once again Joe Roberts and company had brought a 1947 Western Electric 757a two way monitor. Clicking on the links, I found this video of Joe talking about the speaker-

Notice around 45 seconds in, Joe calls the 757 the "world's first studio monitor."
You'd think the guy who created Sound Practices would know a little bit more about audio history. For example, before 1947, what did they use to monitor all those records? Anyway, how about the Olson designed RCA 64 monitor from a good ten years before, late 1930's?
