Too many to make a simple generalization, and the driver is part and parcel of the equation. My assumption is that the referenced EV has a compression driver, and one of the reasons why it doesn't go lower than 150Hz is that the driver is not designed to do so, as for vocal reproduction only there's no need to go lower than 150Hz. The horn is as large as it is for maximum sensitivity and pattern control, which is logical considering the application.
