I own a bass guitar "subwoofer" loaded with a 18inch woofer.
It's an SWR "Big ben". Specs state 25Hz @-6dB.
might be my room, (no speaker i own gives meaningful bass here, for some reason) but i'm afraid the SWR cab is just not completely at ease as a "hi-fi" subwoofer partnered with my LaScalas. It does fill up some botom end, but not really what i'd expect from an 18inch.i'm not sure what driver is inside. The older ones are loaded with a BagEnd woofer, the later ones with a custom-made Eminence driver. BagEnd ones are said to go lower than the later Eminence-loaded.
i could try to re-sell it, but I was wondering if there's a type of loading that would work without knowing the T/S parameters of the driver. like, the type of enclosures that were made when big high efficiency woofers were the rule and thiele/small didnt "exist" yet. Onken? folded horn? infinite baffle? (okay that would require a closet or a separate room as back load probably)...
