You better patent this idea right away! However you can expect some resistance from typical audiophiles, Stereophile ed. John Atkinson has stated that he is "...suspicious of horn-loaded designs." You can make many "horns are too colored" audiophiles uncomfortable by pointing out to them that their eardrums are horn loaded. There are rumors about certain cosmetic surgeons who will remove the outer ear/pinna for a price. You might want to simulate this first with masking tape smoothing out your pinna into you head, and then see if veils are lifted, colorations disappear, absolute neutrality is heard etc. I would expect that instrument localization would be lessened without a pinna, but audiophile MDF prosthetics should appear to satisfy the market. This is not to mention a burgeoning market for anechoic audiophile wigs.
