I'd scrap the stock horn and crossover. The baskets can be reconed to the Urei spec, although they are an expensive cone. I believe the Urei designs utilize an aperiodic vent, the cabinets are over stuffed and the port is just to bleed off pressure and not color the sound with cabinet resonance.
A bit more:
A pair of these can be really nice and are great nearfield devices.
With some effort a better horn can be fashioned in wood. Although this is a 15" coax for a larger Urei monitor, I have 1 or 2 pairs of the JBL 2152H waiting for the same treatment.
