The addition of a second air chamber at the horn throat was investigated by H.F. Olson in his great book Dynamic Analogies (see p. 37). You can download this book from Pete Millet's site, so do a search if interested. The effect on the frequency response will be like a notch filter, which will create a dip in the response depending on the volume of the chamber, and also it's length relative to the horn axis (see Tom Danley's post here). Whether this notch will be useful or not is impossible to say without knowing the compression driver in question, and the horn too, and how they perform together. If there is a need for a notch filter in the response, this chamber can address this. If not, you will want to minimize the volume, and thus the effect of the chamber. You'll probably have to try it and see what happens. Let us know how it goes.
