Snce this model has been revised, I'll keep this breif. These speaker use an Altec 604-8K. They are made of birch plywood and have two ports in the back. They are rated at 100db/watt, and my 3 watt amps can reach rather high *clean* volumes. The bass is deep and tight, going down to about 30hz in my room.Whats most noticable about these speakers, is the presence. Its startling at first. The other surprise is how big the sound is-you will get hit by a *wall* of sound periodically. Also, these speakers are *fast*. I've used them with 300Bs and 2A3s-they seem to prefer the latter. These speakers do music, not audiophilia. Highly recomended.
| Product Weakness: | very difficult to place, toe-in is critical. They dont disapear like minimonitors. They *do* have a personality of their own. they will let you know if your tubes are even slightly noisy or microphonic. :-( |
| Product Strengths: | very efficient, easy to drive, good imediacy and presence. Loves Low powered SETs. they have a big, fast, fun sound. |
