The early 3 legged ones used alnico magnets. The A's (4 legged frame)were ceramic. This is the same as the 'Michigan' line. The early 3 legged ones are alnico, the later ones went to ceramic. I have a pair of the early ones with alnico's. I dont really see any difference in the 12" Michigan vs. the 12" Wolverine. Both had the same alnico magnet, 2" VC, etc. The Wolverine had slightly different specs as to the frequency response, but what were the real differences? The Wolverine line was discontinued by the early 70's, but they still listed the Michigan series.
