RE: Comp Driver w/ different horns and their effect

Ouch - no way that's anywhere near a 'best design'. That thing is a big diffraction mess waiting to happen. I suppose you could build it into a cabinet and round over the front edges, but that looks like such a complicated shape that I doubt the average builder could do that. Also, I can't quite tell from the pictures, but it looks like the throat has a fairly sharp transition from the driver opening. If so (once again, can't really tell), that's also no good. The optimum shape is the OS that Geddes uses which has a smooth throat transition from the flair in the driver to the horn flair. That will give the minimum diffraction.

If you want best, I'd try one of Geddes' OS waveguides with a large round over at the mouth and on the outer edge of the cabinet or a Le Cleac'h flair where the mouth roll back is not truncated. They're different directions to some degree - the OS is constant directivity (and typically wide angle) while the Le Cleac'h is not constant and typically is more narrow, but both can sound good when appropriately implemented in systems.
