Well, high efficiency and moderate volume is a contradiction per se. 96db cannot be considered as high efficiency, if the goal is to use 4-8 watt amps. Suppose we listen at an average level of 82db (not that much loud).

Every recording, even the bad ones,have a dynamic headroom of at least 20db above average. This means 102db during peaks, about 4 watt for the affore mentioned speaker.

This is max. power for the 2A3 (onset of clipping), or -3db from full power for the 300B. Too much distortion, especially in bass.

For this kind of amp power, 100db/1w/1m is the minimum. And this means horns. All the way, not only in bass.
