Those Chinese characters have multiple meanings (all related), but the most common meaning of the character on the left is "happiness" and the most common meaning of the character on the right is "long life"; the one on the left also has the connotation of "good luck" and the one on the right also has the connotation of "satisfaction" (as well as "good luck"). For some reason, when combined they can refer to the stomach or belly! And if you add the Chinese character for "paste" at the end, it means "opium"! (The paste that makes you feel happy and satisfied = opium, right?)
