With direct radiators, it is well known that the worst baffle layout is to have a single driver placed in the centre of a circular baffle.
I'm curious that many botique and DIY constructors do for horns something that is terrible for cone speakers - give them a perfectly round (or square) mouth.
Is there a (simple) explanation for this?
I'm familiar with the linked (Olsen) graphs, and just found this section on Linkwitz's site, which seems to be a more practical demo of the same effect.
