I've heard 'em in a two-way crossed over fairly high (maybe 1.5 kHz or so), and they were excellent. I think the amplifier was 5 watts or less, but it's been a while.
In my experience, they are competitive with the 15" Supravox field coil woofer, which costs about four or five times as much. The Supravox's parameters allow for deeper bass given a large enough box, but the TD15M is comparable in the midrange region. I would recommend a low damping factor tube amplifier with the TD15M (you don't need a lot of power), and tune the ports in-room using that amplifier.
