I have the AN J/Spe in walnut, but the old model with the cover. I only tried them against stuff like B+W 805 or equivalent. OK, it isnt really a fair comparison, since the price is so different, but I got the AN at a discontinued product price (when they started making new Js with no black cloth grill. I sorta lucked out too, since I grabbed the last pair of nice ones. The other pair in stock were a veneer I didn't like. I got the walnut color instead and think it's beautiful, even though no one else likes them (yes they don't have much cool factor since they are just rectangular boxes.

Anyways, compared to the B+W, the biggest thing was that there was more integration top to bottom. It almost seemed that the B+W had a gap in the middle where the cross over couldn't cover properly. Of course, the smoother/refined, more detailed characteristics were also present in the AN. I left a 250 deposit, then bought them a week later. I'm abroad right now, so I havent heard them for 4 months, oh the agony.
