Are the complete speaker systems desirable or are the drivers the "valuable" part?

Personally, I'm so disappointed with how mine sound that my plan till just now was to permanently disable the drivers (120vac as a test signal), then out to the street on trash day. This would be my small part in eliminating bad sound from the local landscape. I hadn't even considered that there might be some value to them at "that auction place". OTOH, if I were to sell these and they end up in some remote location, wouldn't that be the equivalent of exporting hazardous waste to third world countries? Guess I'll have to ponder the ethical issues a bit longer prior to (trying to) flip these things.
