You can't use a 1st order on a direct radiator/horn combo. There is a 90 deg phase difference between them. The solution I experimentally came up with is to put a 2nd order on the direct radiator and a first order on the horn. You will have to measure the response with switchinmg the polarity of the horn to see which polarity does not give a null at the xover point. You can use this null to correctly align both drivers by changing the relative position of each driver till the null is the deepest and then switching the horn polarity back. Of course you would need a high resolution analyzer like LMS to follow this procedure. You may be able to also do it with a 1/3rd octave analyzer. If you have high resolution ears you also may be able to adjust it by listening. I have had some customers whose listening skills enabled them to perform adjustments by ear.
