Want DVD player with good redbook performance

Hi All,

I am looking for a multi player with very good DVD performance (the main requirement). Second is good redbook CD performance, lastly I would like SACD as well. I want longer-term hi-rez for video. I would like better CD performance than my old 1990s Denon DCD-2560 (shouldn't be hard!). SACD is just a bonus, would be used a little.

I have been searching the archives and like the sound of the Philips DVD 962SA. But how much better is the 963SA likely to be? The 963 has higher video processing speed (108 MHz/13 bit) and CD upsampling (192kHz/24 bit), and supposedly will sell for $100 less. What reason to buy the 962SA now? Other than it's my birthday and my lovely wife wants to buy me a present!

I could wait for the 963SA but would almost rather have my wife buy something now. Would the video performance be worth the wait?
