The wiki page indicates the tracking was done to tape but was converted to digital for editing (mixing too? doesn't say). Only had 44.1 in 1985/6 I believe.
This release already sounds fantastic on CD. These graphs make it look like the hi-rez versions don't buy you much over the CD release. Looks like it went back to tape at some point but you can't get rid of the 44.1 ADC step in there.
