I'm a long-time jazz DJ with tastes - and a massive collection - that span the entire history of the music.Good music, well-played, speaks for itself. Washington was a fine player capable of a range of styles and choices. Jazz is a continuum that embraces multitudes, from Bunny Berigan to Albert Ayler to Joe Zawinul to Johnny Hodges. I won't limit my experience of it based upon arbitrary biases or snobbery.
