Recently acquired a Resolution Audio Cantata and the CD playback on the built in player is absolutely stunning. Then I tried the same CD's ripped to a Dell laptop using JRiver and a generic USB cable to the Cantata. Not even close so I'm left wondering, is this to be expected or do I need to optimize the USB playback more, and what do I need to do to obtain better performance from the USB. I've been reading a bit but am confused as to what I need to do. Does the USB cable make that much of a difference or could it be some settings. Then again, is the player on the Cantata just that good. Tried some hi rez downloads as well and they were ok too, but still the Cantata on its own clearly was better. Thanks for any guidance that can be offered.
