There is a big thread about Oppo mods at diyAudio.com including comments from John Curl who was a consultant on the 105 design (sorry, I don't have a link to hand). IIRC, there should be little/no DC at the output but that could not be guaranteed across all production units so the DC blocking caps are added as a precaution and, again IIRC, he didn't seem too concerned about the caps impacting the sound quality.
