Warner Music Japan: Bill Evans – “You Must Believe in Spring” SHM SACD

If you really dig Bill Evans’ “You Must Believe in Spring”, the SHM SACD is the one to buy IMHO. I just listened to it in comparison to the 24 bit mastered CD by the same label and think the SHM SACD is quite a bit better: the bass notes are rounder and fuller with a bit more air around them and Evans’ piano is much smoother and more “realistic”. The piano in the CD version, which is still quite good, sounded a little brittle – almost harsh in comparison the SHM SACD. Now, is the SHM SACD worth the $52 I paid for it? For me, yes. For you, hmmmmmm.
