RE: Disclaimer from Sony S1/Z1

You just never know with a hard drive. Could last for many years or crash within a couple months.

The Sony player is rather odd anyway in that your music collection gets transferred from your computer via Ethernet over to the Sony. So you maintain your music on the computer.... and as we all know, it's important to keep backups.

So if the HDD in the Sony fails, your music is still available on your computer. Which is another topic entirely and has me scratching my head.

If you have a computer with all your wonderful music on it, presumably with a decent DAC and other gear, why would you transfer it all (very slowly via network I might add) to the Sony? Whenever you want new music on the Sony, you first have to put it on your computer for subsequent network transfers to the Sony. Conceptually weird and a bit inconvenient IMHO.
