I don't like the Sound of ANY RR releases! Too distant.
The Dick Hymen Piano cds are great music, but the distant sound for Jazz is
just wrong, IMO. I got a Doug McCloud Blues HRX Disc from RR, sounds terrible! Compare to Keb Mo and "All Around man" from Opus One! The Strauss sounds like the hall is narrow and very deep, like listening down a tunnel, to me.
I'll look for the Sibelius, I have no issues with any BIS SACDs for dynamic range tho.
I recently had a bit of a shoot-out, and only the Telarc stuff recoreded in DSD sounded "Right" tonally to me. 24/96 recordings still have what I hear as Digital Greyness, whereas the Telarc were very colorful and natural. Recent SFS sound very good, but probably are 24/96 or 192.
I wish more Orchs would put out their own HiRez as Discs or Downloads, ala SF and Chicago.
