I got both of those (as well as the Vanska/Sibelius) as hi-res downloads. I felt pretty much the same as you did. I certainly wondered what the fuss was all about with the Honeck, which struck me as nothing special performance-wise or sound-wise. Zander's M2 was just too quirky and wayward for my tastes, however good the sound was. I love hearing distinctive and individual interpretations of familiar music, but this one just didn't work for me.
As for the Vanska, I loved the performances as well as the sound quality. I listened via headphones, which perhaps mitigated the extreme dynamic range a bit, but I had no problem with it. Too bad Vanska won't be completing the cycle with the Minnesotans.
