Bullethead, where does it sound better? What DAC? Why don't you think it's the DAC being able to playback DSD better than it plays back WAV (all DACS have sweetspots)? Why do you think it's the format?
I love DSD too, but I'm trying to ask questions about your experiment. On my Meitner (one bit chip technology; everything gets converted to DSD128) of course DSD would sound better than wav.. the DAC has less to do once it receives a DSD bitstream/signal. If you do the same for a multibit DAC you might get different results with the same two files.
