Ok, sad to report, cleaning the lens didn't work. I even removed the top as per instructions from Bill over at Music Tech and used Qtips with alcohol but to no avail.

Anyone have a lead on a new sony laser? If I can find one cheap enough I'd swap out the old laser which is most likely the problem, again on the advise of Bill Thalmann.

I'd like to thank those that offered suggestions and Bill from Music Tech for his time today otp helping me run through a few things .

So again, if anyone knows of a SCD-1 laser laying around in a drawer, let me know or better yet let them know i'm looking.
