how does the circuit work to get from 10K at the RCA jacks down to 600R at the XLRs? In the SCD1, Sony used a buffer to derive the balanced output from a single-ended audio section. IOW, they took the inherently balanced output from their decoding chip, converted it to SE in the audio board, and then re-derived the balanced output after the buffer. This may be why many remarked that the SE outputs sounded better than the balanced outputs. Last week I speculated that perhaps Sony is doing the same thing in the XA5400ES, but no one "in the know" commented. So I still don't know what's going on. Just because it's "balanced" does not necessarily create a 600R output Z. Has anyone got a schematic?
