I have a friend that uses the Ayre within a similar system to mine (same loudspeakers) but never heard them side by side. I had the Vacuum state
mod done on my Sony and I must say that it sounds fantastic so I suggest that you have your player upgraded and you will be a very happy boy.
Sounds extremely analogue like, before the mod it still had some trace of digitalis especially on RBCD.
