That could be considered a waste of potential! In fact, the money he spends on upgrading his SACD player could in fact be spent on his analog rig - with potential greater potential for success. It really depends on his systems overall capabilities, his inventories, and the direction in which he wants to proceed (why anyone would invest further in SACD at this point in time is beyond me, unless they had a huge inventory of DSD software to justify)

Well, if a modded 5400 beats his vinyl setup on a consistent basis, he might - then - consider improving his vinyl rig to counter.

My own system has entertained it's own digital vs vinyl war, with each format winning battles over the years. More importantly, every format based improvement spawned further impetus to improving it's rival format, therefore improving my entire system - as a complete whole.
