RE: It's minimalist vs. multi-miking

To each his or her own, of course. But, I am completely with Robert Lang on this. Some 50's - 60's recordings are very fine, and I started my audiophile pursuit and record collecting back then. They are still sentimental favorites, and they sound even better remastered in hi rez, IMHO. But, I was not prepared for the huge step forward I experienced 5 years ago when I discovered hi Rez Mch. It changed my life as an audiophile like nothing else has, using the standard of live concert hall sound as a reference.

Even so, you owe it to yourself to listen to those golden oldies that were recorded in 3 channel in that mode if you can. To say that they are obviously better that way is almost an understatement.
