This is a nice idea.

In classical music the sound of the violin is one of the most prominent. It should not be too difficult to compare the sound of a real violin with the sound of a violin on your best solo violin recording. It shouldn't be hard to hear the difference between a real instrument making music by exciting the air by some kind of vibrating string and electronic playback making music with electricity making the speaker driver vibrate. There are numerous properties of electronic circuits that just do not exist in natural music production, like the harmonic distortion profile of audio circuits for just one example.

I like the idea of natural acoustic instruments as a reference. But in reality it is kind of a moot point.
