Eagerly awaiting the release of John Adams' Harmonielehre on SACD, especially since it's the San Francisco Symphony performing.I heard it for the first time in 1985. Entranced by the freshness of this minimalist neo-romantic work, I ran out and bought the CD by Edo DeWaart and the SFSO, which had just been released that year. I found it to be a modern work which sounded innovative and mysterious, yet unabashedly "beautiful" at the same time.
Released on March 13th on Amazon, and now available from the SFSO website.
Hoping the colourfully complex orchestral textures and agile energetic gestures will sound excellent on SACD.
