Didn't know you could record DSD with the sony computers featuring DSD plyback. AFAIK the software for DSD is only Vista compatible, Is this true? It *might* be possible the software Sony offered is compatible with ASIO 2.1 standard, in which case it is very intriguing. I have a sony laptop that is supposed to have it, yet it didn't come with the software as it came with XP.
btw, checked the specs of the playabck design MPS-5, while it is true is plays SACD's, it doesnt take any standard digital interfce for DSD (SDIF) and it doesnt appear capable of DSD over USB (website seems to say 48k is max for USB), though it does UPSAMPLE everything to 128fs DSD.....
Viva Vinyl!
