The amplifier distortion is really a non issue, when considering a complete system, most of the distortion/coloration in any system regardless of quality and cost originates from the speakers.
On the average speaker distortion is roughly 1000 more than measured distortion of electronics. The only secret with speaker distortion is the complete lack of data by the manufacturers, typically manufacturers will publish the speaker distortions but almost always their measurement stops right before the lowest octave, they will never give you that, you know why? Because the numbers in that region are simply embarrassing and they rather not talk about it.
