"(I'm not particularly interested in hearing them the way Beethoven heard them.)". That's fine Jim as Beethoven didn't get to hear most of them either!

Well, let me revise my comment. - "I'm not particularly interested in hearing them the way Beethoven's audiences would have heard them."

But could someone answer my original question? - How does the sound of the pianoforte used in this recording differ from that of a modern, grand piano?

Jim
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Following the recomendations I received a few weeks ago in response to my request for recomended SACDs of the Beethoven piano sonatas, I now have two of the BIS Brautigam foretpiano recordings. They are indeed beautiful and well-worth the price.

However, for most of the sonatas, I would prefer to get SACD recordings of modern piano performances rather than the fortepiano. Admittedly, it's not what Beethoven heard, but I still like the dynamics of a modern grand. - Any suggestions?

Jim
