This will require a hardware upgrade. The TAS1020B used as the USB receiver chip is only capabole of USB 1.1. Texas Instruments was planning to make an upgraded pin-compatible part with USB 2.0 capability, but the economic slump jammed a wrench into the works on that one.
So a hardware upgrade will be required. Specifically, the USB input receiver is on a separate PC board, which minimizes the cost of this upgrade. Beyond that I don't have any details because the upgrade doesn't exist yet. I am estimating that it will be available around the end of the year, but that is just a rough guess. As far as cost, I am sure that it will be less than 10% of the price of the unit.
And don't forget that only Mac OS X supports the Class 2 Audio spec at this point. The initial release of Windows 7 will not, although I would guess that a Service Pack will address this in another year or so.
Another problem is finding high-sample rate source material.
