I'm currently listening to a CD which was recorded straight to 16/44 yet has the best bass I've heard on any format. The studio used multi-layer Mana equipment racks and took great care with ancillary equipment - the result is excellent.

Unfortunately for you it is trance music so may not be to your taste, although as one off I'm sure you'd find it a very interesting listen.
I don't normally buy into trance music myself, but this does have some musical merit and I'm even listening to it right now.

The CD is "Fast Floor - The Eternal Dream" by Mana Recordings.
Could take some finding as it's 11 years old, but if you're interested I'll burn a copy and send you one.
