I owned several MLP SACD's and I really didn't like the hot sound of them. They are, to me, the least successful of all the labels, taken as a group, to make SACD transfers. I have several MLP CD's and a couple SACD's that I like a lot because of the performances, but I find that the sound is usually too sharply defined and somewhat harsh to persuade me that I'm listening to real instruments. In some cases, I went back to a different label RBCD and sold the MLP SACD's. I prefer almost any other label to MLP. Their SACD's sound worse than some labels' RBCD's. Listen to almost any BIS, Delos, Ondine, or Telarc recording (RBCD or, especially, SACD), then an MLP, and you'll hear what I mean. Among older recordings such as Living Stereo and Pentatone Quads, almost all are better than the best MLP.
