I do understand how in the same audio system one can optimize multi-channel over two channel or vice versa. In my case, while I have given equal opportunity to both two-channel and multi-channel with respect to speaker placement, it is, nevertheless, more optimized for two-channel by virtue of the fact that my main speakers are more worthy than the center and surrounds. Although multi-channel does out performs two-channel (no contest) upon direct comparison. But speaking of two-channel only, I guess I don't understand how a listener, within the context of a single CD/SACD player, can optimize CD over SACD or vice versa, unless the player is optimized to favor one format over the other. In my case my SACD players have the reputation (at least) of getting excellent results from both formats.
