I makes sense that this new product will sell very well.....How many Zanden combos, DCS combos, Meitner combos, Meitner players, Levinson, Marantz, Esoteric (stock and modified), Burmeister, etc, etc. super expensive two channel machines are out there.....lots. If this player is the new top of the top, then if I owned one of those other thangs I would sell it immediately and get this thing. More audiophiles are still listening to two channel than surround. While surround may be the best for classical music there are still very few recordings (relatively speaking). And some of us audiophiles don't listen to all classical music. The stereotype of the exclusive classical music loving audiophile is really somewhat of a myth (maybe you are the archetype). Every one of my audio buddies listen to all kinds of music.....some prefer classical....many others don't. If the Playback Designs was $30,000 then it would indeed have limited appeal....but at the intro price of $10,000 it is within reach of many more. A customer of mine was going to possibly buy one of my modded Oppos and I told him about the Playback Designs and I got him so excited he moved some money around and now has one on order. This thing is probably a superior DAC, as well, and could be used for computer music. If I had the money, I would buy one. I want one! Come on guys.....you all want one! Of course, I would have to mod mine....he he.
